How do I restore or roll back my server to an earlier state?

Can you roll back or reload my server to a previous state?

Yes. Every server is backed up automatically twice a day, and you can roll back yourself on the Backups page in the client area.

Automatic backups run at 00:00 and 12:00 UTC by default, and you can pick your own two times on the Backups page. Before a risky change you can also click Back up now (the 3 newest manual backups are kept, and they are always free to restore). Restoring automatic backups is free within your plan's window — the last 3 days on Supreme and most plans, the last 7 days on Ultimate, none on Budget unless you chose a Backups option — or longer if you chose a longer Backups option when ordering (you can change it later with Change plan). Older backups cost $3 each to restore, which unlocks that backup for 7 days. If you have a downloaded snapshot from before things went wrong, you can also upload it and overwrite the current state.

How do I restore from a copy I have?

Stop the server, upload your saved archive or files via Files or SFTP, replace the current files with your copy, then start the server and verify.

Unarchive the copy first if it needs it, replace the affected files or world, and confirm the world name matches your config before you start. Replacing files overwrites your current data, so copy the present state first in case you still need something from it.

What if I have no copy from before the problem?

Check the Backups page first: your server is backed up automatically twice a day. If what you need isn't there, message the team and we will see what is available.

Does restoring keep my map?

Yes. It puts the world back exactly as it was in that copy, including your map.

Uploading replaces the specific files and folders you upload; it does not automatically merge history. Take care when overwriting so you do not lose anything you still need from the current state.

How do I make sure I always have a restore point?

Automatic backups run twice a day, and you can click Back up now on the Backups page before any big change. Downloading your own copy via Files or SFTP is extra protection.
