How do I recover files from a terminated server, and what does it cost?
Short answer
After a server is suspended or terminated, recovery is possible only if a backup still exists, and that is never guaranteed. Open a billing ticket with the old server IP and the Console URL, which contains the server ID we need to locate any surviving data. If a backup is found, the restore costs $5.
Can you recover files after my server was terminated?
Sometimes. It depends entirely on whether a backup still exists — if one does we can restore it, and if it does not, the data cannot be recovered.
After termination a backup of your data may still exist for a short time. We can check, and if one is found, restore it for you. Because nothing is guaranteed once a server is terminated, the sooner you ask, the better your chances of any surviving backup still being available.
How much does file recovery cost?
If a backup is found, a restore costs $5.
The $5 applies to an actual restore. If no backup exists, there is nothing to restore.
How do I request recovery?
Open a ticket on our billing website and include the old server IP and the Console URL. We will check availability from there.
The Console URL contains your server ID, which is what lets us locate the exact server and any backup tied to it. You can find it in your browser history from when you used the panel. Include both details in the ticket.
Can you reactivate the terminated server with my data intact?
Only if a backup still exists — the same condition that applies to recovering files on their own.
Whether you want the server brought back or just the files handed over, it comes down to whether a backup is available. Provide the IP and Console URL and we will see what can be recovered.
Frequently asked questions
How much is file recovery after suspension or termination? If a backup is available, the restore is $5.
Is the $5 charged even if nothing is found? No. The $5 applies to an actual restore — if no backup exists, there is nothing to restore.
Where do I find the Console URL? Check your browser history for the panel address you used to open your server's console. It contains the server ID we need to locate the data.
What if I don't have the old IP or Console URL? These details make recovery far more likely. Open a ticket with whatever you have and we will try to help, but the Console URL is the most important piece.
How long after termination can I still recover my files? There is no guaranteed window. A backup may only exist for a short time after termination, so open the ticket as soon as possible, before any surviving data ages out.
